Frequently Asked Questions

HOW MUCH SPACE DO I NEED FOR MY LIVING WALL?

The dimensions of each Living Wall Pack are detailed in the product description.

WHAT TOOLS WILL I NEED TO BUILD MY LIVING WALL?

The Living Wall Planters do not need any tools to click them together, but you will need basic tools for attaching the planters to your wall/fence. Drill, screws, spirit level etc.

WHERE SHOULD I POSITION MY LIVING WALL?

You can fit your living wall in any aspect. A South facing (sunny) position will require different plants and more water than a North facing position. Please contact us if you require help chosing the plants for your wall.

CAN I BUILD A LIVING WALL INSIDE OR OUTSIDE?

Yes, but there are more considerations in terms of light, plant choice and drainage etc for indoor Living Walls. Indoor locations will require houseplants whilst plants going outside need to be frost hardy or planted for a short term display.

WHAT TYPE OF PLANTS CAN I GROW IN MY LIVING WALL?

Most plants can be grown in our living wall planters but some are more suited. Check our planting mixes to guide you.

CAN I GROW HERBS AND VEGGIES IN MY LIVING WALL?

Yes, BioWall Living Wall planters are perfect for growing herbs, salad crops and other edible plants. Please read our Blog on growing edible varieties in your Living Wall.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I WATER MY LIVING WALL?

Frequency of watering depends on many variables mostly to do with the weather and aspect. As a guide it is important to remember that the wall is completely dependant on you to water it. Rain alone will not be sufficient to irrigate the wall. Put your finger in the plant pot from time to time to see if the soil is moist. If it is dry you need to water. It is best to set your irrigation to water a little but often eg 5 minutes every day. Your wall will require less water in winter than in summer,

WHAT ABOUT IF I AM AWAY FROM HOME A LOT?

Use the BioWall timer with the irrigation pack to water your BioWall living wall when you are not home.

WHAT ABOUT DRAINAGE FOR MY LIVING WALL?

If your wall is outside, you may let you wall drain on to the floor or place other plants below to water them. You may wish to collect the water with guttering to run into a water butt or other container. Indoor walls will need to have a gutter underneath to collect any run off and direct it to a container.

HOW SHOULD I CARE FOR MY LIVING WALL?

Herb edibles and annual plants may need liquid feed occasionally and trimming if necessary but the plants are not permanent and will not require maintenance. Foliage mixes will need to be fed at least annually and a seasonal trim of dead leaves flowers etc.

WHY SHOULD I BUY A LIVING WALL?

A BioWall Living Wall will bring colour to any wall..big or samll. They are ideal for a feature walls and in small gardens & courtyards can add natural elements without using up floor space. Living Walls look amazing and have proven wellness benefits. Please refer to the 'Benefits' page of our website and Blogs to find out more.

HOW DO MY PLANTS ARRIVE?

WHAT HAPPENS IF I WANT TO RETURN MY DELIVERY?

Contact us via the Contacts page of the website.

HOW DO I REPLACE PLANTS?

Simply take the black plant basket out of the planter and remove the old plant. Please compost your old plant or dispose of responsibly. Fit /cut the rootball of the new plant to fit in the plant basket and slip it back into the planter

THE ROOTBALLS OF MY PLANTS ARE TOO BIG FOR THE LIVING WALL PLANTERS

It is ok to cut the rootball so that it fits the planting basket

WHAT ARE THE LITTLE BLACK BASKETS FOR?

These are what you put the plant into. They make it easier to plant and keep the soil of the plant rootball from being washed away and clogging the drainage holes.
